Summer 2016 Jazz Series: Cookie ThomasJuly 08, 2016
Versatile vocalist and undiscovered treasure, Richard “Cookie” Thomas began his career in Philadelphia in 1960 when he had the opportunity to open for B.B. King at age 14.
His current CD, “Touch You With A Song,” is a complement to his collection, which includes “The Pleasure Of Your Company” and “Holiday Classics.” Richard’s voice is especially suited to well-known classic standards, and he draws his inspiration from the likes of Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, and Johnny Hartman, whose influences can be heard whenever he sings.
Richard currently performs at Soundwaters Community Center in Stamford, CT, as well as the well-known Silvermine Tavern in Norwalk, CT; Foxwoods Casino, the Jackie Robinson Jazz Festival in Norwalk, CT; Stamford Palace Theater; and Danny’s Skylight Room, the Carlyle, and Waldorf Astoria hotels in NYC.
This concert is part of New England Arts & Entertainment's Summer Jazz Series in the Poli Club. Subscriptions to all five shows, which include reserved seating, can be purchased here or by calling the Box Office at 203-346-2000.
