Palatial News Journalism Program

Palatial News is an in school or after school program for all grade levels that introduces students to journalism by developing expository writing skills under the creative umbrella of theater arts. This exercise in non-fiction writing encourages the growth of observation skills, helps develop sensory awareness and increases student ability to decode plot and character development in works of literature and art.

Participanting students receive complimentary tickets to a Palace Theater Education Series show or other age appropriate presentation. There where they are given media badges and backstage access to interview performers, stage crew and audience members. Students are then required to write and submit an article about the performance, which is posted on the Palace’s website and printed in a Palace Theater Journal at the end of the year. Articles are also submitted to local newspapers for possible publication.

To apply for this program or for more information, contact Educational Programs Manager Dawn Alger at 203-346-2016.
