FOR RELEASE: October 10, 2006 CONTACT: Sheree Marcucci (203) 755-8483 X 133 marcucci@palacetheaterct.org LOCAL HEADLINERS PERFORMING AT PALACE Reunion Concert Part of Weekend Marquee Madness at Historic Theater WATERBURY – A marquee of popular local performers will have the Palace Theater rockin’ with music and good time memories on November 10, when Marquee Moments: The Concert, a fundraiser for the theater, kicks off a weekend long series of events celebrating the theater’s third anniversary since its celebrated re-opening in 2004. Marquee Moments, the Concert features Cathy Bochicchio, Tom Chute, smooth jazz man Marty Q, and a reunion of members of the former band Stonehenge featuring a musical tribute to another local favorite, Magic, entertaining with music spanning the past five decades in a variety of genres guaranteed to have the audience up on its feet dancing. Bochicchio, a well known singer with several area bands including the Andy Nichols and Dick Cyr Band, conceived the idea of producing a show of local performers on the historic Palace stage. She convinced several of her musician pals to perform free as a fundraising vehicle for the non-profit arts organization that re-opened in 2004, after undergoing a thirty million dollar restoration and being dark for eighteen years. In addition to Bochicchio, all the performers are well known area entertainers - Tom Chute, WATR General Manager and morning show personality known throughout the state as a versatile triple threat performer and seasoned director; Marty Q, smooth jazz man heard in area clubs as well as on jazz radio stations and several self-titled CD’s, and the driving rock and funk sounds of the bands Stonehenge and Magic will keep the Palace stage ablaze. The concert is part of a full evening of activities that pay homage to the theater’s roots as both a vaudeville, theatrical and movie house. The unveiling of the theater’s brand new state of the art marquee and a video featuring the winning entries submitted for the Marquee Moments contest which recalls some special memories in the lives of greater Waterburians, in which the Palace Theater served as an important backdrop, are also part of the evening’s celebration of old friends and good times. The video produced by students from the Waterbury Arts Magnet School, under the direction of teacher Scott Serafine, will be screened on the Palace stage at 7:30 immediately prior to the concert at 8:00pm. Sponsors for the evening include: ABC Sign, Brass City Printery, Crystal Rock Water Co., dt media group, Republican-American and Webster Bank. Tickets for the concert, which includes admittance for the video screening are $25 and can be purchased in person, by calling the box office at 203.755.4700 or on-line at www.palacetheaterct.org. The marquee unveiling ceremony at 6:30 pm. is free and the public is invited to join the celebration.
