It's Not Just Any Day, It's Annie Day at the Palace

IT’S NOT JUST ANY DAY, IT’S ANNIE DAY! Everybody’s Favorite Orphan – Annie, Theme of Fun-filled Day for Kids and Families at the Palace WATERBURY – The Palace Theater’s Webster Hall will be flooded with curly red wigs and scruffy mutts looking for a lucky break when the venue hosts Annie Day, a fun-filled kid and family friendly event on December 28, from 10:00am until 2:00pm. Just in time to offer some family-oriented activities during winter break, Annie Day features a bunch of Annie-themed activities, including a free cartooning workshop, Annie-Look-A-Like contest and more! The event will celebrate the theater’s upcoming Webster Broadway Series presentation of the timeless musical Annie on Friday, January 12, at 8:00pm; Saturday, January 13, at 2:00pm and 8:00pm; and on Sunday, January 14, at 1:00pm and 6:30pm. In addition, all participants and attendees of the December 28th Annie Day activities can take advantage of a special 20% discount off the price of tickets to the Sunday evening January 14 performance of the show. Annie Day is a light-hearted way to promote the upcoming performances of the all-new touring production of Annie, featuring veteran character actor John Shuck in the role of Daddy Warbucks, coming to the Palace Theater for five big shows January 12 – 14. Tickets are $58.25, $53.25 and $48.25 and go on sale Monday, November 20, at the Palace Theater Box Office, located at 100 East Main Street in Waterbury. All Annie Day Events are free and open to the public, and are sponsored by The Barker Animation Gallery, The Connecticut Humane Society and WATR Radio 1320AM. Diamond in the Ruff Contest : 10:00am - 2:00pm Bring your favorite pooch to an open casting call sponsored by the CT Human Society, where your dog will be photographed and interviewed for a walk on role as "the stray" in one of the upcoming performances of Annie at the Palace! Each winning dog’s family will receive a four pack of tickets to watch their pup’s debut performance! Annie Look-A-Like Contest: 11:00am -1:00pm The Palace Theater and WATR 1320AM are holding an open-call audition to find the next Annie! Children between the ages of 6 and 11 are invited to dress up in curly red wigs and sing one of their favorite Annie tunes for a chance to win: A four pack of tickets to the Sunday evening performance of Annie on January 14 - 6:30pm, a playbill signed by the cast of Annie, and limo transportation and spotlight acknowledgement before the show. Free Kid’s Cartooning Workshop: 11:00am – 12:25pm In this inter-active workshop sponsored in part by the Barker Animation Art Gallery, kids seven and older will learn how Annie began and how to create their own cartoons! DCF Heart Gallery: December 15 – January 29 Located in the mezzanine of the theater, this touching exhibit features photographs and short profiles of just some of the many children up for adoption through the state Department of Children and Families.
