Since our grand re-opening in 2004, the Palace has become quite adept at the numbers game, presenting over 500 live performances to more than 620,000 patrons over the course of just five short years. While our accomplishments in presenting top quality entertainment, arts and educational programs, and community initiatives are numerous, each season faces its own challenges when it comes to managing the numbers.
In this difficult economy, many are being forced to make choices on how to best allocate their funds, and just like running a household or business, maintaining a building of our stature can be an astounding task. However, as these challenges are not unusual for a not-for-profit performing arts center, we as an institution have been extremely successful at adapting to this ever changing business climate. In fact, in spite of the struggling economy, last year our financial loss represented a mere 0.1% of our overall budget. Although losses are not typically a reason to celebrate, given the significant reduction in state support, we at the Palace have much to be proud of and have you to thank. As evidenced last season, we learned that you, our valued patrons and donors, are incredibly loyal to the Palace, and despite your own challenges, continue to trust in our mission by choosing to support your landmark theater in your community.
Now, with state funding being reduced even further and likely to disappear in a few short years, your role as a donor is more significant than ever. It is at this time we ask you to again show your support and help us toward our annual fundraising goal of $550,000. If we are able to preserve the level of support from all those who have given a gift over the past five years, we will be able to continue to provide you with the level of entertainment you have come to expect from the Palace.
