Main Street Waterbury presents the 6th Annual Main Street Community Partnership Award (formerly the Stephen R. Sasala II Community Partnership Award), honoring an individual whose initiative, leadership, and personal commitment embody the spirit of partnership and community involvement.

This year's award will be presented to Kristen Jacoby. Kristen Jacoby is currently the President of the United Way of Greater Waterbury, an independent 501c(3) that creates positive change in the areas of Education, Financial Stability and Basic Needs. She has fostered a common vision for the agency and continuously works to meet and exceed United Way’s 13 Membership Requirements and 34 “Standards of Excellence.”

Prior to coming to United Way, Kristen was Director of Business Development & Government Relations for American Medical Response. For 10 years, Kristen worked at the American Cancer Society, receiving numerous accolades and awards for her work.

Kristen has a Bachelor of Arts in English and Communications from University of Connecticut and a Master of Public Health from Southern Connecticut State University. She studied abroad at The City University, London, England. Kristen graduated from the Senior Leaders Program for Nonprofit Executives at Colombia University. Kristen is married to Dr. Peter Jacoby and resides in Woodbury.

Kristen continues to demonstrate strong community leadership and partnership building which embody the true spirit of this prestigious award. Main Street Waterbury CEO Carl Rosa commented, “Kristen has made a tremendous impact in our community particularly with those most in need. We are a better community because of her hard work and dedication!”

A portion of the annual Main Street Waterbury Community Partnership Award program is the awarding of a scholarship to a selected Greater Waterbury area student. In July 2020, Main Street Waterbury presented their 2020 Stephen R. Sasala II Community Partnership Scholarship to Ms. Madison Lisowski of Prospect CT. Ms. Lisowski graduated from Woodland Regional High School in Beacon Falls in June and finished her fourth year with a 100 GPA and is currently attending Marist College majoring in Political Science and Journalism. During her high school years, she was very active in the Student Government, DECA (a national emerging leaders & entrepreneurship program), and the National Honor Society excelling in both Math and Science. With her career path she intends to make an impact on her community and the world!

We hope you will join us November 11 as we recognize Kristen Jacoby’s contributions and commitment to our community while celebrating the impactful role that positive partnerships play in revitalizing downtown and improving Waterbury’s future.
