Summer 2016 Jazz Series: Allegra LevyAugust 19, 2016
Allegra Levy is a sultry vocalist and raven-haired rarity whose rich tones and smooth lower register have taken the international jazz scene by storm.
A recent graduate of the New England Conservatory in Boston, where she studied under jazz legendaries and luminaries, Levy has already made a name for herself as a singer, composer and band leader with a truly unique and emotive sound. At the age of 25, she has gained respect as a composer and has written an entire catalog of catchy, original music that brings a fresh sound to the New York jazz scene.
Her debut album "Lonely City," produced by the great trumpeter John McNeil, has been released on Steeplechase Look Out, and features the talents of Carmen Staaf, Jorge Roeder, Richie Barshay, Steve Cardenas, Mark Feldman, John Bailey, and Adam Kolker to name a few.
This concert is part of New England Arts & Entertainment's Summer Jazz Series in the Poli Club. Subscriptions to all five shows, which include reserved seating, can be purchased here or by calling the Box Office at 203-346-2000.
