March 11, 2020:

The Palace Theater is committed to the health and safety of all our valued patrons, volunteers and staff.

The widespread health concern about COVID-19 (“Coronavirus”) is a reminder of the global nature of our daily lives and interactions. Because our patrons, volunteers and staff remain at the core of our mission, we believe we have an even greater responsibility to remain informed, and to be transparent and consistent in our communication with all our stakeholders.

In accordance with guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and following the Governor’s March 10 press conference, the Palace continues to monitor these current health concerns regarding COVID-19 alongside local, state, and federal government agencies, and we remain committed to the health and safety of our patrons, volunteers, and staff. Measures we are taking in response to COVID-19 follow the recommendations of the CDC, will be ongoing and evolving, and will serve as a guide for similar situations should they arise in the future.

Specifically, we are:

  • Doubling our efforts regarding sanitizing and cleaning throughout our building, following best practices outlined by the CDC.
  • Providing hand-sanitizing stations throughout the building.
  • Providing gloves for event staff to reduce potential transmission risk.
  • Encouraging staff, patrons and volunteers to stay home if they feel unwell.

We remain open and our Palace Theater performances will go on, excluding the recently postponed Waterbury Arts Magnet School production of The Wiz and Charles Esten. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will inform you as the guidelines from the CDC and our local, state and federal government officials are updated.
