A Champion for the Community
The Palace recognizes that arts are a transformative resource that can stimulate a cultural and economic renaissance in the Greater Waterbury region. Through diverse programming, educational programs, ticket donations, and community volunteering and philanthropic efforts, the Palace is committed to finding ways of supporting and energizing the community we call home.
Educational Programming
Since 2007, the Palace Theater has brought over 500 students into the theater with its interactive after-school workshop series. Middle to high school students explore concepts central to a current touring production as well as how those same themes relate to real life.
Students can also receive hands-on educational experiences through our Learning in the Wings internship program. High school students can explore potential career possibilities in a professional theater setting.
Ticket Donations
The Palace Theater is proud to support the great work of the many other charitable organizations in our community. Annually, the Palace Theater donates over $15,000 worth of tickets in support of fundraisers for non-profit organizations. Community Volunteering & Philanthropy
Palace staff actively participates in volunteering efforts hosted by our community partners at United Way, Waterbury YMCA, & the Arts & Culture Collaborative. Staff read books to children during Read Across America Day, organize food for Stock the Pantry, and assist with downtown beautification projects.
Throughout the year, the theater hosts a number of donation drives to benefit several of our local community agencies. We collect everything from non-perishable food staples to winter coats & toys during the holiday season.
During one show each season the Palace collaborates with the Rep-Am and the United Way to raise funds for the Greater Waterbury Campership Fund, helping to send children from low-income families to summer camp.
