Join Marc Balet for a fascinating conversation about his remarkable career and his experiences with Andy Warhol, Fran Lebowitz, Derek Jarman, and other cultural icons and celebrities who helped define the creative landscape of the last 50+ years.

Born and raised in Waterbury, Connecticut, Marc Balet's creative journey has taken him from the halls of the Rhode Island School of Design to the cultural centers of London, Rome, and New York, where he worked alongside some of the most influential figures in art, fashion, publishing, and film.

After studying architecture at RISD and completing the school's European Honors Program, Balet moved to London in 1971. There, a chance meeting with acclaimed artist and filmmaker Derek Jarman immersed him in the vibrant worlds of art, fashion, and cinema and introduced him to many of the era's leading creative voices.

At just 22 years old, Balet received the prestigious Prix de Rome in Architecture following presentations to renowned architects I.M. Pei and Robert A.M. Stern. The honor included a solo exhibition, Dreamhousing, at the Whitney Museum of American Art.

His path soon crossed with writer Fran Lebowitz, leading to a collaboration on her column for Andy Warhol's Interview magazine and, eventually, to a role as the magazine's Art Director. From there, Balet built a distinguished career directing creative work for some of the world's most celebrated brands, including Armani, Yves Saint Laurent, Karl Lagerfeld, Barneys New York, Anne Klein, and Pantone.

More recently, he served as creative consultant on Pretend It's a City, Martin Scorsese's acclaimed documentary series featuring Fran Lebowitz. Today, he designs books for Rizzoli Publications from his home in Morris, Connecticut.
